SVX 'Style' Big Rig

So I was in Kuwait about 3 weeks ago, and as if it wasnt bad enough for me to be half way around the world from MY SVX but I actually got to see one driving down the road there in Kuwait City.

But the truely fun part is on the pages below, if you sift through the pictures and look closely, you will see that the truck has the SAME style windows our beloved SVX's have... amazing...

Very hard to see in this picture, but if you download the PDF, there is a good 'from the inside' shot on page 4.

Scroll to the bottom of this page and you see yet another 'from the inside' shot.

Cool

I'd give Aredub's left garbonza to have one of these in a parking lot full of Explorers & Excursions. No need to check the rear view when backing up, heh-heh.
Is this the same Dutch company that brought us the little Justy type variable ratio tranny vehicle back in the '60s?

Ron.

DAF is the same company that borught out the "rubber band" tranmission. I think the official title for it is CVVT or CVTT, something like that. I believe that DAF is now owned by a bigger company like Volvo or Scannia.

Currently Audi is working on a version of this tranny. It uses a metal link belt similar to the old FMC/Link-Belt industrial drive.

I wish Audi good luck in trying to adapt current industrial technology for automotive use.

Larry,

I think you are referring to Continuous Variable Transmission?

The technology that was in the Justy?

The technolog that's currently in the production Audi A4 mated to the 3.0L? And the one that's currently in one of the models of the Saturn VUE?

These CVT's are starting to become pouplar... Hope they have better luck than the Justy, cause otherwise, we the SVX lot won't own the rights to "transmission problems" anymore.

Significant Technical Input
From where I'm sitting (usually the cheap seats ) we don't own that badge, unless we also have FWD Chrysler products at home. We can claim the more expensive to rebuild badge though.

My all-time dead auto tranny winner is

'88 Mitsubishi Galant Sigma. It had a 3.0L V-6 and a 4EAT that died every 60K like clock work.
