Great effort guys. I personally really like the SVX and am excited to see this level of action to get a feature on it in the magazine. It's been just over a year since our previous SVX feature, so it's time.
Tom, if you can collect similar materials from everyone, including text, mods lists, $$ spent, etc., we can clean everything up over here. You don't have to get them all the way to "press ready" prep. I can also give input on pics if there are any questions regarding quality or formatting, since I do the layout on the magazine as well. Oh, and regarding the DL (someone commented on it a few posts back) we recently picked up a newer version of the same car (78 vs. 76) which is in much better condition. So, it will appear again, but isn't a high priority given the limited interest in the DL as a specific model. Ryan Douthit, Publisher Subiesport Magazine http://www.subiesport.com |

Ryan, thanks for joining our ranks! Even bigger thanks for putting my pearl in and starting this thread by doing that.
Tom, I got the pics. Do you want me to re-write my info that I posted earlier this week?

Ton:
This is timely. I spent the day today washing, waxing and power buffing my car. Took a couple of pics, which are now in my locker. Have also put some high def versions of the track day pictures I have published previously. You have the photo of my gearshift knob, which is the other relevant picture. Here are links: http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...lade/38065.JPG http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...lade/38064.JPG http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...lade/38066.jpg http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...lade/38069.jpg http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/fil...lade/38071.jpg Let me know if ther eis anything else you needd from me. Oops. Just took a close look at the recent pics. Seems my car is so damn shiny and reflective, I'm picking up reflections of the trees, the house, everything. Can't believe the reflection of the license plate on top of the rear bumper. Anyway, I guess I can take some more. This picture taking ain't for fools.

Tom,
Well, the seat install, 275s to the tire mounting shop and other "family" stuff kept me from my write-up over the weekend. I'll get it done this week. -Bill (p.s. have I mentioned how wicked the 275s look?)

Just have the tires on the 9" rims right now. Fitting on the car will be this week. I'm hoping I can get by with additional neg chamber and rolling the wheel wells - my machinist knows a guy who has the tool. The air body saw is ready, if necessary -Bill p.s. just sent Dave a PM re: a driver's door latch and what to do re: Grassroots contributions...

Honestly I don't see it working without some issues at speed. The bad thing is the rear is a PITA to work with since it is 1. Structural, 2. Duel pieces of steel that aren't crimped as they go up they actuall split apart so it would require actual body work to accomplish. Might not want more camber back there anyways as you'll have a car that understeers itself to death... Then again brick man, that might not be such a bad thing for ya! I'll check regarding the latch. Not sure if we have one or not. Did you check with SVXphiles and SVXfiles? I know we sold SVXphiles a door for the glass so he would've had a spare door. I've been too lazy to send ya that tire money so figured we'd square up at the challenge when you loose to an XT. You have no idea how good the racer looks with 10x16s! It is sticking about about an inch more than the 7.5" rims and 275s did with the inch spacer!

I've done the math and the tires should be at the same distance from the inside surface as the 245s on the RX7 rims were (the 9" rims only have 38mm offset vs the RX-7's 50mm). They will be 1" farther out than the 245/RX-7 combination (i.e. about where your stock rim/1" spacer/275 combination sat). I'm only running -1.5 all around, with -2.0 desired. I agree that we may have to break out the blue tipped wrench on the rear wheel wells The 10x16s are an inch farther out than the 275s with the 1" spacers? Wow! Then again, it must look exactly like a FP should look now!! Thanks for checking on the latch....I'll give Old Tom a call to see if he's got one. -Bill

Is this idea done with or are we still going to try and get this off the ground?
