It WOULD be hard to use a clutch with busted kneecaps...

That reminds me of a funny story about Jack Lambert of the Pgh. Steelers.
one of the toughest men in football.
In about 1976 two well known hitmen from Pgh were going to pick a fight with Jack in "The Decade" (a Pgh. disco) and cut his hamstrings with a strait razor during the fight to "fix" the next days football game.
So, these two hitmen, big tough contract killers, pick a fight with him, and get their @sses beaten to a pulp!!!
Go STEELERS!
An nat.

Hmm, so what are peoples opinions on cams? I don't wanna go extreme, but a few more ponies would be nice.
Are there any companies whom build "refreshed" motors?

No one realy makes them. You can pick up a new short block from Subaru for fairly cheap and get your heads rebuilt by local shops I am sure. Cams are not readily available and I see that Spring time is upon us it s about time for me to call Delta and tamlk to Scott about cutting me a production deal.

Well it won't be the first time I have to go do something "on my own" for subaru performance
(I had an built EJ25 in early 03 w/ built rs heads & cams along with a link plus ecu. )

I must admit I am talking before doing my research, but I do remember hearing someone say that the pistons/rods are very similar to those of an early 2.2L turbo legacy 4cyl? Something about a slightly diffrent dish design due to the head.

How much do new shortblocks run for the SVX? Are they hard to aquire or are they still fairly stocked? (Should I also plan on buying one to hord would prolly be a better way at putting it)

Many of the newer members on here probably don't know that there was a drag racer in the 00-03 time frame that had a SVX EG33 engine powered dragster. I am of course referring to Frank Aragona, Jr. He won several championships in the Competition Eliminator category.

I just do not recall that anyone ever obtained any of his engine specifications such as pistons, etc. It was identifed where he had cam work done, but no real specs of any kind.

An old thread pic is included. I recall some better pics of the engine and even a different vehicle, but could not find them.

Oh yah I know about him Back in 02 I was asking lots of questions on the impreza forums about swapping in an N/A EG33. At the time, the new EZ motor was comming out so people said wait or just build an RST. Well the rest is history. Now supposedly there is a turbo EZ motor on the horison (few years away still). But I can't wait that long till we can get some 6cyl performance out of these scoobs!

Down the line, if I go insane, which happen once before... I would be interested in maybe swapping out the EG for an EZ-R since the impreza guys are sleeving and building rods/pistons/cams/valvesprings for that motor now.
