Pressure riser trans resistor

We recently found on a 96 transmission a resistor had been added on the trans harness that said "Pressure Riser TM 1"
It is 78 ohms and goes between the duty solenoid A wire and ground. I'm guessing it might have some of the same effect as pulling the resistor behind the battery but I wondered if there is some standard mod here since the name on the resistor.

I'd like to learn about this resistor too, would like to add one to the wife's Outback Sport to firm up the shifts some.
So if you find out anything about it please post it here.

Thanks
