barometric prssure sensor?

What does it do? If it were bad, how would it affect the transmission? How much does it cost?

I think it is just for the CPU to help adjust the air/fuel mixure to the current conditions, shouldn't have anything to do with the tranny, if you're getting a code on it, the vacumn hose is probably loose.

So it wouldn't have anything to do with the car thudding when I drive?

I don't believe so, Thudding is probably a Tranny Mount, or maybe a U-Joint.
