hooked, what am i getting myself into?
i've always loved the looks and heard rumors about how quick they were, was trolling through the subaru listings looking for a grocery getter and found a really cherry 95. he had sold it the day before, but it was too late- i need one now. so what am i getting myself into? i see one with a trashed tranny and front end, do i just need to get it up to tacoma and give those guys 4 g's? do they cover the diff problems too? what other things do i need to look for in a '92 with 130k?
TIA guys |

Re: hooked, what am i getting myself into?
fastgeek I think you and I are in the same boat... I've long admired the SVX for its un-rivaled beauty & unique design, and due to the birth of my son last June, my Lightning is up for sale and the SVX fits perfectly into my lifestyle!!!
I think we're in for expensive replacement parts, exhilerating performance and the best Sunday afternoon drives... -Chike Quote:

Hey, you're in Tucson, you're right by motorsports http://store.yahoo.com/svx-motorsport-accessories/. I think his name is Motorsport-SVX on this site. |

Well, the SVX is a great car...but it isn't very fast. I mean, ... just... don't race people. EVER. I've beaten a few civics, but BARELY. It's pretty crazy what types of cars will beat you: Jeep Cherokees, and... here's the real bad part about owning an SVX: THE FREAKING TCU. It sucks. Sometimes, you need to go a bit faster, so you hit the gas a little. It doesn't downshift, it just gives it more gas. But then you realize that isn't enough, so you give it a little more. So it gives it a little more gas....doesn't downshift. So then you realize that this REALLY isn't working, so you punch it to the floor. Waahhhh... nope. No downshift. Just more gas. Had you hit it from the beginning, it would have downshifted and thrown you into the back seat, but the stupid TCU...it's just obnoxious. I LOVE the SVX's style, quality, engine, suspension, handling, 'I don't care what the weather is' commando driveability, but the transmission sucks major donkey balls. I'm keeping mine alive so I can upgrade the suspension, stereo, exhaust, and body, but after that, I hope it dies so I can replace it with a 5 or 6 spd.
It's a great car, but it has MAJOR upsides, and some pretty big downsides. I like things like that. I'm happy with it! - Rob |

Tucson eh? I've got 2 ex girlfriends that live in Tucson. I'm up in (you guessed it) Flagstaff myself.
Motorsports Warehouse is on Grant btw. I've never stopped in there but it looks like Dayle needs a new outdoor sign. I've been thinking of coming down there and buying an exhaust kit from him and possibly having it installed while I'm down there. We could get together and drive around if you'd like. Throw me a pm if you're interested. Oh yeah, I'm 20 and like long walks on the beach and candle light dinners.
