2 Years with the SVX
As of tomorrow, 11 October, I will have had the keys to my SVX for two years. And what an experience they've been.
* 130mph trips between Burlington, VT and Manchester, NH. * Sliding sideways around snow-covered parking lots. On purpose. * Dozens of 'ain't never seen,' 'what kind of car' and 'about those windows' comments. * Premium fuel prices as high as $2.20/gal. * Near-death experiences with Michigan pot holes. * An old guy in a purple kimono who lives on an almost impassable dirt road on top of a mountain, and who charges way too much for a salad. * The numerous times I've been stared at, photographing the car in an interesting setting. Last, but not least, has been the collection of experiences meeting (online and off) the members of this group and the Yahoo! club. The first Reading meet. AutoFest. Driving through Stowe, annoying the wives along the way. Thanks to Subaru for producing a car I want so badly to preserve, yet can't avoid driving. Thanks to all the friends I've met here. I can't wait to see the familiar faces again, and meet some new ones, next year.

Congrats, Nick. And I'm thankful to have been a minute part of some of the experiences you've listed and feel fortunate for the opportunity to get to know you and others via this common interest. May you be cruising for many years to come.

One expeience I've been meaning to post all week was something that happened on Monday.
On the way in to work, it was pretty cold - about 38degF. I exited I-94W and was waiting at a stoplight when I saw a very clean red MR2 Spyder. The top was down. I turned on to the road, towards the office. I ended up passing the guy, but not noticing. Later on, I was waiting in traffic at a red light when he pulled up next to me. We both gave a smile and a nod and he went on. It was just funny. His topless car in near-freezing weather was a sight for everyone else. But what caught his eye was the SVX.

Air pockets
<I used to get stares when I drove the Spirfire to work in similar circumstances. Of course, in a Spitfire, you don't necessarily need a good heater -- you're only inches away from a nice warm ENGINE>
Yep. Been there, done that in my Sprite, Midget, and Spitfire. Crank those windows up and put the heater on full blast and you ride in a little pocket of warm air. Ahhhh the memories! (if I tried that now, I'd get pneumonia! ) Don Congratulations on two years there Mr. Pockets!

Congratulations Nick!
We've had ours for a little over 6 years now, and my wife still loves driving it (so do I when she-who-must-be-obeyed lets me)
