A Couple of Related problems?

So, on my way home from school, I noticed that my cruise control does not work. The light comes on however the car doesn't do anything when i depress the little switch. Tonight, I noticed that my dashboard lights seem a little bright so I went o adjust that and that switch does nothing now too. What is going on here? Why does my car seem to have problem after problem after problem? I've had it for only 6 months!!!

Check the fuses, might have one blowen.

Or the cruise control vacuum hose falls off time after time w/ the SVX. Do a search for "cruise control hose"
