If Monzta ever gets into tranny repair, I'll need to buy a bigger hard drive. Good story.

Ron (good listener).

With one hand tied behind my back (literally), I can probaby remove the stereo within 20 minutes. With both hands, I can take it out in perfect shape in about 5 minutes. If you go though 3 SVXes and countless head units, you will get as quick as I am.

To be honest, I don't think it was done bad. You should see some of the other cars that I had. Some of them were nightmares and if they are not nightmares, the quick and easy jobs were damn ugly and not done right.

I did have a problem when I did mine, but that was becouse a piece of the vinel was sticking out and hanging up on the stereo cage. I had to cut it off with an exacto blade and then it came out with no problem. The piece of vinal was behined the trim plate so you can't even see it now.

Subafreak,

I had the same problem with the vinyl on the left side catching on the cage as I tried to pull it out. I too solved the problem with a sharp knife. Considered using a hand greande for a while bit decided that would probably create more problems than it solved.

I havn't tried to take my sterio out (Kenwood mp3 player) but the guy who hooked up the wires behind it(for the sub and amp) said it was hell, and broke something in that area trying to put it back in!. Now the little 'door' thing to that console, won't shut and it's about an inch out too far!
I"m stuck with 'cleaning' up his mess, when I'm not even sure how I"m going to take out the damn deck!

But yeah...

What he broke was the two screws holes that support the top corners of the stereo mount. Quality Auto Sound did the same thing on mine. The dash piece that needs to be replaced is about $800 new and about another $800 in labor.

Quality Auto Sound's fix was not to take responsibilty and replace it, but to wedge a piece of plastic that broke off from something under the front of the assembly so that the door closes correctly. What a great business.

Just read my signature. It is a easy fix. I once broke my front face of the bay. With a nice 5 minute epoxy, you can fix that easy. Also, that little plastics can be fixed and new holes can be made using epoxy. Yeah I have been making too many things with epoxy. Just make sure you know how to make epoxy. I used a nice piece of fiberglass trim to keep things together in my car.
