I had the same whine as you describe with my teal. It was a bad front diff. Someone had put ATF in the diff case. Drain some out and see what it looks like.

well, at higher speeds, i had a whine. it was a piece of metal scraping on the drive shaft thingy...just pulled it off and it was all fixed. could it be your tire brand?

i can't resist
