Yup, $300 for all four

I picked a color off a color chip sample. It is actualy lighter than I had hoped for (very close to the later, brighter silver than the darker '92 silver). These are my winter wheels/tires so I wasn't that concerned about the color. I just wanted them to be durable. I'm please with the results and he's done another set of wheels for me for my wife's car (dark grey 10 spokes for her snow tires, minimal brake dust appearance).

It's a done deal. I ordered the wheels today and they were the 5 spokes. The guy misread the model number before. $138 including new lug nuts, valve stems, and taxes isn't too bad for 4 new wheels. They were the type 22 if anyone else is interested.

Might be worth looking into it, but shipping is about $20/wheel/way ($160 total). The shop gets stuff shipped to them all the time. If you are truly interested, I'll get you their contact info.

Well, here they are. It's cold, dirty, wet, and dark outside so the pics aren't the greatest, but you get the idea. Not bad for $100 for ALL 4 wheels.

Unfortunately, it's not a perfect fit. Under heavy acceleration or hard turns, the rear tires will still rub against the inner edge of the rear outer fender lining. The dreaded offset problem. I'm going to go back to them and see if they can contact the manufacturer and search for ones with the correct offset. If not, then I'll probably send them back since these were going to be everyday wheels, not for snow tires.

KuoH,
I called the closest NTB dealer, and ordered a set the day after you posted, got them 2 days ago, and think they look pretty good for $99.

Now we have matching cars, as mine is a pearly too.

Thanks for the tip.

If anybody else is intersted, they told me the sale ends the 20th, so you better hurry.

They also had the type 42's for sale at $99, they are basically the same wheel, but have more spoke, probably 12 or 16 (I didn't count them), but I liked the 5 spoke better.

Hi Kuoh;

What offset did they give you for your 16"rims? Do you know if they have a deal on the 17" rims? I just thought I'd ask..... Thanks.

That's the thing. They don't know the offset. They just punch up our car in the computer and it gives them a stock number. They'll probably have to call the manufacturer on Monday to find out what the offset of those wheels are. I did however, look through their fitment guide and it lists the same wheels for several other cars like a Toyota Avalon, Accura 3.2 (or something like that), Mitsubishi something and several other FWD cars, so I'm guessing that they think it's the standard 38mm FWD wheels.

Darn....

Called the NTB folks over in Roanoke, and they had those wheels on sale too....but none to fit the Focus.

Shoot....those would have made great winter wheels too.. Don

I got a few daylight pics of the wheels on the car in case anyone wants a better look. Didn't have time to clean up the car though. :-(

I did find out that the combination of .5" narrower wheels and a slightly greater offset should fit most SVX's just fine. I initially though that both rear wheels were rubbing because of clearance problems, but it turns out that it was only the passenger side, and only when the car is loaded down. That also happens to be the side where the rear quarter panel was scraped and dented by a drunk parking his truck a few years ago, so I think that the fender is just pushed in a little. I'll have to investigate with a local body shop about possible pulling it out slightly. The driver side seems to have no problems at all.

KuoH,

If I replace "Garbage Truck" with "Friend", that's pretty much me.

But it still rubs. I've got a set of steel wheels, 38mm offset from a Toyota Supra 2nd gen, with 205/55/16 Kumho snows on it, and it still rubs. Ever so slightly, and only over bumps or cornering when the rear is loaded with weight.

FWIW.
