Crappy Christmas

Well I got up and my Brat wouldn't start this am. Went home over lunch and the distributor was about 1/8 of an inch out. Pulled it to put it back in and there were all kinds of metal shavings on it. Not sure what I did. Drove fine yesterday but I guess I'm now in the market for a EA-81 engine. Any leads around the PA area? Couldn't have come at a worse time as I NEED a truck. Hope everyone else's x-mas made up for mine.

I've got 1800 Throttle body motor out of a late 80's GL with 56k on it, I can't ship it, but will take $150 for it, if you need it.
PM me if you're interested.

brat engine

Thanks Huck! I'm guessing its a EA82 that you have right? I need an EA81 OHV. I'm not quite sure of myself to put a whole new engine in the thing. 56k though is very tempting. I'm just irked that I haven't a clue what I did! Moose on Ultimate Subar and Phat Brat both have engines available so thats an option I guess. My poor SVX is getting dirty with this salty weather.

DOH!? you did say EA-81 didn't you, I'm an idiot , Yeah the one I've got is an EA-82, but I do have the wiring harness, alt. and PS pump, but it would be a lot of trouble to swap it out., Oh well, I'll keep my eye's open for a good EA-81.

Ben-- Did you try calling any of the local salvage yards? There have to be a lot of those EA81's floating around... cheap too.

local yards

Most of them that are in yards have been there for quite some time. Not real good to stick in and start which is what I'd like. I did do some more looking tonight. I'm not real sure what went it looks as though the crank is okay just covered in metal shavings. I wonder what went then?
