Unhappy SVX vs Rustang 5.0.

Ack. How embarassing. There was this really crappy 5.0 on stoughton road last night.. it looked like it had exhaust, and thats about it... anyway, at about 45 I punched it, as did he. I surged ahead til about 60, at which point he caught up and slowly passed me. Dangit. I got up to about 96mph and backed off, he was about 6 car lengths ahead of me.

>sigh<

So much for the SVX's gearing being unbeatable on the highway.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

yeah, the SVX is a 'top end' car, or so I previously thought. From a stop, the SVX is slow...but I've raced BMWs before on highways and smacked em silly. >sigh< Ack it was actually all rusty and everything too. How embarassing.

even worse, he's telling his friends all about it. "Ha Ha, i gave it to some exotic Rice-mobile today! there's no replacement for displacement, dude! blah blah blah..."
if you could have beat him you would have earned yourself a 'Calvin peeing on Ford' sticker

Actually, he liked my car. I wanted to see if hte car was stock so I caught up to him and rolled down my window and asked him if his car was stock... eh.. I'm not sure he spoke English, but he kept giving me the thumbs up sign.

SVX vs Rustang

Was it stokc? That depends, I think the rust is a dealer option so technically it wouldn't be stock.

31-45 is the worst time to punch an SVX. It can't downshift to first at 31, and up to 48, the engine falls below its peak torque curve. I find the best time to floor the SVX is from 25-29, and from 60-75. at 75, I beat an NSX on the highway, but I did punch it first, but we were like exactly next to each other till like 115, when I had to take the 25 MPH off ramp at about 70. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

This sounds similar to my experience racing a Ponitac Firebird. We stayed side by side untill about 70 MPH, when my car shifted into 3rd from 2nd and his car left me in the dust.

Thats cause of the ass that had the revs reduced from 7,000 to 6,500 in the US models. The gear ratios were optimized for 7,000 RPM shifts. When it shifts at the lower RPM, it falls below its max torque curve. He needs to be killed

GOOD QUESTION!!! I hope someone knows...lol.

If you put a manual in the SVX, that won't increase max revs. It'll only increase the amount of low end torque, as the TCU tells the ECU to limit torque under 2,500 RPMs.

I wonder...what would happen if we disconnect the wire running from the TCU to the ECU...has anyone done this?

So the Mustang can go straight...big deal. I'd like to see it corner as well as the SVX does.

If you plan to out-corner one, make sure it doesn't say "SVT Cobra" on the rear....

....that might be the only angle you are able to read it from!
