just the windows scare me - something like they roll up n' down a little when opening/closing the door to maintain a flush fit. combined with the age and electrical components of the day ..... no thanks

That same feature is on the new BRZ. I played with it the dealer showroom.

Id trust modern Japanese electrical components over late 80s/early 90s European ones anyday!

There are actually quite a few coupes and convertibles that have that feature.
I'm sure there are a good few that might go bad and stop working. Never encountered one not working so I have no idea.

the V12 on the other hand, doesn't have that problem. i would do some serious research on either one. they will make an SVX look like a Honda lawnmower as far as maintenance and repairs go.
I thought the V12's were even more costly maintenance/parts wise.

you'll pay more for spark plugs and what not, but the cylinder walls won't deteriorate.

Any nikasil engine that made it through the high sulfur gas that we used and still has good conpression is better off and will outlast a steel sleeved version of the same engine. Nikasil isn't or never was the problem. Bad gas was.

you're right, i just read about that.

either way, its 4200lbs and a little soft around the edges - if you're more into the luxury than performance, then go for it. i prefer it the other way around.

It sure is the best looking BMW aside from the 507 though and FTR 4200lbs is probably less then the weight of the average new car sold stateside today.

i really do like their looks, but from what i understand they're just soft and floaty. i have two books full of 928 articles comparing it to cars of the day - most of which is the 8-series/XJS/Corvette/Mondial type competition, and the BMW is usually at the bottom of the performance categories. maybe not a bad thing if you're just looking for a comfy grand tourer, though.

I'll pass. If I wanted a car that looked like a Lotus, I would just buy one
