I agree with what everyone said below...

Guys only think girls notice cars. Most only look at you if you have expensive cars (Porche, Ferrari, etc) because that means you have money. It's all about the money.


There are few girls who appreciate cars and I'm not talking about the "OMG It's looks like the car in The Fast and the Furious!". When/if you find a girl who truly appreciates a fine car...she's a keeper. If you're looking for a quick f***...drive something that looks expensive and shiny. Or ride the latest sport bike...

Agree with the previous post BUT, for you, the story sounds different. If your car plays a part in impressing women and that's important to you and they're not impressed, then move on. I would think you just have to decide what's more important to you.

In the two years, or so, I've owned my car, I've only been noticed -that I caught- by one person: a guy older than I. If I was out to impress women with my car, I'd move on. I think it does look a little dated to many people. I'm just old enough, though, to like the look and am married with kids and better not be impressing any women but my wife. Heck, even the Porsche 911, 944 and 928 look dated and don't get noticed. Same with a lot of the old sports cars. New gets noticed, convertibles get noticed.

If I were in your shoes, I think I'd test drive a few cars to see if one feels anywhere near as good as the SVX. If you find something, it is your moral obligation to find a good home for your pearly.

Well thank you all for the feedback. I think I quite possibly have been talked out of selling it. I agree that women who want a man based on his car are probably not the right kind of women to date. Plus the last date I had was a stupid fill-in-the-blank. :P

I do really like a lot of newer cars. Like the Porche Cayenne, newer Audis, Mercedes, Dodge Challenger, etc. But those all come with a hefty car note where as the SVX I have is paid off.

Plus, I've put quite a bit of money into this car. A new paint job, a new clear coat, new tires, new rack and pinion, new brakes and go on down the list.

I think I'll hang onto this car as I do like it despite the fact it comes up with a weird, strange, hard to diagnose problem every month.

On the same subject, my son was never impressed with my car. In fact, he would make fun of it being older than him. Now that he has a drivers license, things have changed. He begs me to borrow it after test driving it. Maybe you should let the girls take your car for a drive, that may change their minds

Not a bad idea actually. My wife certainly got a new appreciation for it after driving it. My dad too, come to think of it, and he has almost no interest in cars whatsoever beyond getting him from point A to point B.

Why would you want to be with a girl who only notices you for what your driving. Reminds me of a guy I knew, who wanted to date a pretty girl, but she wouldnt go out with him because he drove a Ford Escort.

when i bought my 928 (my first non-beater car) i was dating my future wife at the time. when i pulled up to show it to her after i bought it, her response was, "is that practical?" i knew she was a keeper.

every car i've had since then has been mostly an oddball, under-appreciated type of vehicle ... but vehicles that make ME smile when i drive them.

While I don't care much about impressing anyone and have been out of the chick finding market going on 12 years I also notice that the SVX doesn't get looks like it used to.

In my BRZ I get stares, gawks, and thumbs up from little kids all the way up to old women driving everything from motorcycles to rigs. I even had a passenger lean his whole body out the window to watch the BRZ behind him. It reminds me of how the SVX used to be an attention getter. It just doesn't seem to be anymore and I can't figure out why because the look is much more odd than most anything out there. Even the ricer hondas don't bother trying to race me in the SVX anymore.
