Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

LOL...

I knew it was bad when i opened the door and the hinge creaked like a haunted house. That visible part of the hinge when you open the door is all rusty. Looks like i will be tearing the doors apart. I am super pissed at myself that i waited this long. The dash area under the steering wheel is fallign apart and plastic is all cracked... ugh

Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

Seals have been ordered.

I hope to be getting my hands dirty mid next week. If i can get off these 65+ hour work weeks. I'll be taking my time and stripping the majority of the car down, cleaning and replacing parts as i go. First thing will be the water pump to make sure the motor is still in good working order, if so then i'm stripping her down and doing it right. Now i need to find a parts car or two to leech from.

Do yourself a favor, get a Hayden/Imperial, and attach it to the air conditioning condenser.
Watch out for the 6mm bolts, and use 14-16 fuel injection hose clamps.

Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

grrrr.. im in the back yard now working on this thing. Put gas in her. fresh battery.. still wont crank. a shot of starting fluid gets it to run for a sec then dies. I pulled the fuel filter and turned the key. no gas. I heard the fuel pump relay clicking so next step is to unplug to fuel pump and see if im getting power to it. searching for info on that now.

Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

Can someone give me some guidelines on testing the plug @ the fuel pump for proper voltage? It was hard to cut the key on and test at the same time but when i got back there i had around 5 volts to pretty much all the pins.

I hear the relay clicking (which does not necessarily mean its working) but i dont hear my fuel pump doing anything at all. I cant remember how noticeable the sound of the pump was in the past but i am willing to bet i should be able to hear it with the cover off and leaning into the back seat.

no dice

Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

So i have been looking around and i think i'm on the right track. Can someone take a look at this auction and tell me if this fuel pump would work? I believe the pump and installation kit is correct. I am aware of the need to lengthen the wires when using the walbro. Thanks ahead of time!

Re: Reviving the '95 (sitting for 2 years)

It looks to be correct, and they SAY it fits;
This part is compatible with 2vehicle(s) matching 1992 Subaru .

"Notes Year Make Model Trim Engine
1992 Subaru Legacy All All
1992 Subaru SVX All All "

But I would not use the clamps that they provide.
I would use the original ones or actual fuel injection hose clamps.
And I would put the positive wire inside a legnth of fuel injection hose by itself, to protect it.
