How nice!
I was at my beloved mechanics garage changing my oil when a fellow pulls in to leave his car for work, but first he immediately runs to my car checking it out all over. Then he wants to know if it was a custom made car! It's something, because there are not too many cars out on the road that people would actually stop to ask about. It's nice owning one of them.

unfortunately, SVX's don't seem to be as odd or mysterious in Pittsburgh - there's too many of them here! i do get the occaisional stare, though. i think the '97 grille kinda throws people off sometimes.

This would indeed be nice but during the 2+ yrs I have owned my SVX I have never had any of the reactions so often reported here. No one finds the car worth a special look or regards it is extra ordinary as such a variety is on our roads. I simply do get any special looks or comments. One or two who know the car have spoken but no one has out of curiosity.
Although there is only a small population down here (4m. odd.) there is a huge cross section of cars on the road. Everything from Japan and the East is represented as well all European models including some exotics. However there are no late model US cars except for the Jeep range of 4x4's and a few of those strange retro Chryslers . One sees a few winged cruisers now and again run by enthusiasts but thats about all. Pre 1939, US cars amounted to probably 40% of the total but not now.

Most people in NJ do not care about the car but when we tell them it's a 92 their eyes bug out

Looks
I wish my SVX got the looks my Brat does and my brat is quite beat up. Everyone whats to know if the seats are in it and every seems to have a story to tell about their experience with a Brat. Maybe I should start restoring it to A-1 condition and use my SVX as a daily driver. Naw, can't do that.

RE: "US cars": I guess The Big Three are missing a market segment. Oh yeah, that means they'd have to move the steering wheel over to the other side. Well, too much trouble, that. Apparently. |

I miss being 'down under'
I miss the variety and number of unique vehicles I'd see in Australia. I particularly liked the micro-vans made by all the major manufacturers -- Honda, Suzuki, Diahatsu etc. These were mini-mini-vans capable of seating 7, but they were narrower and shorter than the mini-vans we have here.
Based on CAR magazine, folks in the UK have a plethora of vehicles to choose from, some really neat. |

why can't we get Skylines, WRX STi's, Evo VII's, etc.?!?! maybe the world sees our "Police chase video" TV shows and thinks we're not ready.

i've watched Crocodile Hunter and i'd be worried about all the "10 deadliest snakes in the world" all living there. i've always wanted to go to Australia. i'm sure the plane ticket prices are pretty nasty, but maybe someday.
