low voltage at purge solenoid
Hello.
I have a 94 SVX LSi AWD. It has a 4.44 tranny in it now. I also have the EcuTune Stage 1Av1 and the TCU computer. My check engine light is on for the purge solenoid valve. I have checked the voltage at the plug and coming from the ecu and it is 3.7 volts constant wether the CEL light is on or not. I do not have the wire from the 1Av1 connected. Any ideas why I'm only getting 3.7 volts? This is my second SVX. My first one was a 92 LSL?( Been 10 years) It was 2 tone silver and black. |

The voltage that is sent is a Duty Cycle, that won't be a constant Voltage. The code says that the wiring to it is either open or shorted, or the solenoid is not responding to the signal. Harvey.

Re: low voltage at purge solenoid
So the solenoid , when it is supposed to turn on , should be getting the 12+ volts it's supposed to. If I'm only getting 3.7 volts constant wether I'm idling or driving then my ecu is messed up, correct? Just to clarify, I'm getting the 3.7 volts with my car at normal temps.

Re: low voltage at purge solenoid
you could be measuring the voltage drop over a corroded wire. check the voltage at the computer itself.

From the other side of the solenoid to ground you should get 7V min. This just checks the power supply, and the solenoid winding. The actually signal level when operating varies from 10V to zero. It only works when the car is cruising, on a light throttle, as it is sucking fuel fumes into the engine. Harvey.

Re: low voltage at purge solenoid
Ok. I will look into it more this weekend . Just one more quick question. What pin number is the blue/red wire when it goes into the ecu at the yellow connector b61? It's 1 thru 16 I just don't see a blue/red wire on it.
Thankyou for the help so far guys! |

Re: low voltage at purge solenoid
Sorry about lapse of time, but I finally got to checking things out. It looks like it may be my ecu that is the problem. I'm going to get ahold of another one in a bit and then I'll know for sure.

Re: low voltage at purge solenoid
It was definately the ECU. Hard to ignore the smell of burnt electronics. The new ECU works great. Thanks for the help.!!
