Alice needs a new pair of boots..
Hey folks-
I took my car to get inspected a couple weeks ago, and while she was up on the lift, the mechanic pointed out that my front CV boots were torn and would need replacement. I'd really like to get this done before winter, but I have very little money to play with (I know, I know--what was I thinking buying a 10-year old $30,000 car if I can't afford the upkeep?). I'm curious to know if this is something I can accomplish myself. If so, is there a how-to anywhere, and what parts will I be needing? Thanks for any help- -Adam |

Hi Adam,
This is a common problem of $ and what you get. Re-man-ed axles are the least $ but I am not sure I would drive too fast if they were not Subaru parts. A boot kit is avilable but then there is the question of how long has Alice been getting her feet wet? Have any rocks worked in between her toes? Is she bleeding? Does she have blisters? Just putting on the new boots will not not fix the foot/toe damage. She should take the red pill and then wonder about the blue pill. John |

My local shop had mine sent off re-built and re-installed all in the same day, and there are a few places that will rebuild them for you as well, but not in such fast turn around. Do a search as there were many recent conversations on that topic.
