Ralph Watson Special Engineer

I have a favour to ask.

I have had a book published covering the work of an old mate, Ralph Watson. In his memory, the contents of the book has been recorded on the internet. This, as a result of special kindness extended by member Phil/b3lha, our valued computer geek.

As no cost is involved, I understand that publication may depend on there being a continuity of viewers . Therefore if you will, kindly please click on and off -----

http://ralphwatson.scienceontheweb.net/

I hope there may be some who will pause to browse a little, as there is some interesting stuff to look at. Although written with specialised viewers in mind, it is heartening that a fourth printing has been called for.

In no way was/is a commercial venture involved, with sales covering no more than production costs. The book was written purely as a token of friendship, and I now hope constitutes a fitting memorial.

Wasn't he working on a super clean diesel? I have some info that I printed out a couple years ago. It is in my desk at work. I will look at it tomorrow and see. If it is, I will post the links!

This guy had it TOGETHER!!

No, not my Ralph Watson. He never worked on a diesel, except for the one in his yacht/sail boat.

After clicking on the link, then looking at the contents, I found myself still reading after an hour or so. Great book. Thanks for sharing Trevor.

Cool Re: Ralph Watson Special Engineer

Trevor,

what a sad loss to the Engineering world - people like this do not come around to often, for others to enjoy seeing the fruits of their hard work.

Thanks Earl,

Not of real appeal to the younger members here, but had hoped some would find it interesting. The pictures included are worth a look.

I took on the project purely in honour of an old friend. At the outset I was extremely doubtful that I could create something in anyway of general interest, but have been surprised. Nurses at the hospital where Ralph spent his last days, purchased a substantial number as christmas presents for friends and or spouses. Public libraries have also put it on their shelves.

Re: Ralph Watson Special Engineer

Trevor,
I am delighted to have this link to the book. As you know, I purchased one of the hard copy books a year or so ago. I have so much enjoyed the book! It has a special place on my book shelf! Mr. Watson was a truly unique individual and smart beyond comprehension on this end. I so admire a person of his caliber.
I also know of the love you put into that book in honor of Ralph too. And a wonderful thing you did, my friend! And a beautiful work as well ...... I honor you for writing the book!!

I encourage ALL to click on the link and see what you are missing ......

+1 You did a great job on the book and a true honor to your friend. You should be proud. He was lucky to have you as his friend.

[QUOTE=Trevor;625298]I have a favour to ask.

Trevor
This is the type of thing that just fascinates me....I'm like Earl, I started reading and looked up to find the morning had zoomed by....you truely honor your friend. What a wonderful fellow he must have been. I love the 'just making it' aspect of building something. Well, I dont have the part, I'll just make one.......the world doesn't have enough guys like that.
.....and the pictures. I clicked first on the lycoming engined car and my jaw about dropped when I got to the part of the inboard drum brakes..........what a mind!!!! and the sketches, I think are super.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

Bruce
PS I know what I'll be reading in front of the fire tonight!

Kia ora Stephen,

It should not be too long before Ralph's rotary aircraft engine is again demonstrated. It is worth seeing it in action.

There is always a lot of interesting people and cars in attendance at what was last time a sort of picnic event. What is more the usual venue is not far from you. I will try to remember to give you a call.

Cheers, Trevor.

I am happy that in this instance you do not have the power to ban me for publishing that which is a fact.
