SVX barn find!

I never would have expeced it, but stuffed in a barn with old BMW 2002's, 6 series, e30 and e36 325is, and a 62,000 mile '97 M3 I found my SVX

and so I opened the hood, hood promptly executed an auto-close and try to bite me maneuver, I aquired a special device to discourage this behavior, also known in some circles as "fire woode" or "stick" while I removed the battery tray and dumped out 2 inches of ratchit

and installed a $400 battery (it came with a free car) after a check of the oil and couple clicks she turned over, cranked for a while several times, and fired right up! 10 minutes of idling reminded me of the problem, every gasket on the engine leaks, mostly those right over the exhaust

but I carefully drove it out, head out the window, windshield being too dirty to wipe off

and washed her with my special "filthy car cleaners"- a brush on a stick that water flows through to flow the mud off, now I have an SVX where it belongs, in the driveway, I have waited too many years for the day I can get started fixing this old girl, over 8

but I hope to have her back on the road in a few months or next year, perhaps with a white cousin

OK so you have BMW's and a SVX just lying around in your barn just like others would maybe have like a pitch fork or shovel or something like that just lying around? Maybe all you guys have way more money than me but please explain further as I don't understand

Your barn story reminds me of another.

Last week I was up in Memphis at the Jim Keras Subaru to purchase parts for my svx. The parts guy told me about a 92 svx that had been in the shop that morning. He said it had 8000 original miles on it and looked as if it came out off the show room floor. He said under the hood it was flawless. The best part of the story is why it was in the shop.

It needed a new cigarette lighter.

I can only wish to drive one like that.
