does an ej1.8 fit an loyale?

does the 1.8 liter ej18 subaru impreza or legacy engine fit a loyale w/ 1.8?
Or is that another type?

Fit, yes. A direct swap, no.

It will fit between the rails & reasonably bolt into the chassis. That said, you'll need an EJ series transmission, or adapter plate. The wiring is TOTALLY different, so you'll need the ECU & engine harness from the donor car as well.

Your best bet is to do some soul searching over at www.ultimatesubaru.org The EJ into EA (Loyale) swap is well documented. I'm sure you'll find all the info you need there, if not they'll help you find it.

Yeah, like Paul said, check out the Retrofit forums at ultimatesubaru

Personally, if I was going to go through all of the work to do an EA -> EJ swap, I'd put in a ej22 or ej25...

Yeah, +1 on the 2.2 at least, 140 HP vs. 110, and I don't think the fuel mileage will be all that different.
