Fuel pressure

I did a search, but really didn't find what I was looking for. The symptoms are - upon first start after sitting for a while, the idle will go up, dip down just below 500, and then come back up to normal. Also, if you sit for a bit sometimes, you can hear an audible "whoosh" sound. Is there a check valve or something I can replace instead of the pump itself? I also have an ECU code of 22, but I'm sure it's not related...

Oh yeah.... cycling the key on and off to try to build up pressure doesn't work, and results in the "whoosh" sound again.

the code is for a knock sensor so i think your right thats not your problem... it sounds like you have a vacuum leak or a failing MAF where dose the "whooshing" sound come from?

I was kinda tired when I wrote that...

The noise comes from the fuel lines. Which is the pressure being relieved. I may try checking the fpr first. This is all with the engine off.

remove the vacuum line and see if there is a fuel smell or fuel residue in the vacuum line if you think the FPR is leaking, also if you can have a shop check the Fuel pressure and see if it is within spec..

If anybody is going to check the fuel pressure, I'll do it. I don't mean to sound brash, but I am a very capable mechanic, and intend to troubleshoot it before I replace anything. However, I still think that the problem is the valve that is supposed to hold line pressure. We shall see.....
