2001 legacy tranny

not for sure yet, if its a manual im not going to go for it, although id really like to have one, i dont want to mess with putting one in right now. i just want some general info so when i call this guy about it ill know what to look for. thanks!

i also just found an auto from a 99 legacy outback, will that work either?

well the 2001 is a 5 speed, hes asking 600 plus 350 for the rear diff, a little more than what im wanting to spend and its a manual and like i said, i dont want to do a manual anyway. hes selling the entire car for 2500, seems a little pricey to me since its pretty much totalled. but the 99 legacy transmission is 350, plus 250 for the rear diff. is that what rear diffs go for? that seems a little steep for me, but then again, ive never bought one. any input on the price of that rear diff and if the transmission will work will be greatly appreciated, thanks again!
