I have had good luck w/ the BBB. Some companies just hear you say BBB and change their tune. Something I would look into if I were you. Of coarse I would also be looking into a set of golf clubs just in case I wanted to feel a little satisfaction regarding someone who screwed me over.

Don't say BBB to the shop, just check up with the BBB first to see if there have been any reports on the shop.

I have had the term BBB thrown in my face before by unreasonable people who walk in already simply expecting some whacked out unreasonable solution and refusing to meet anywhere between. I actually laughed in the face of one of them, and told them I was going to have to call the PD myself. The situtation quickly went from me giving them much MUCH more than they were clearly entitled to, to them receiving absoloutly nothing.

The moment someone threatens me, there is no longer anything to talk about. It is just that simple, and I never lose. So I caution you against walking in and just telling this guy what you "expect him to do or else".

-EDIT-
Not saying your claim is rediculous nick. Just saying be careful how you handle the people you want to "get something from"

I'm not trying to get anything from them but answers at this point.

Worst case scenario I'll have to find a used MT and have someone install it. I'm not paying to fix the front diff.

I don't think there has ever been an STI in their parking lot. That info on the BBB is outdated. They are under new management.

Just say'n you should use whatever resource available to you to rectify a situation in which you are wronged. I have been done wrong for about 70K and doing it legally I got back about 471 dollars. I have gotten only small satisfaction from it all. I just hope that what comes around goes around and hits ssome people extra hard.
I just people on this site can come to your aid when you need it.
side note: I hear Alaska is beautiful.

Ok I'm not getting any answers about the new problem or the different exhaust note. The guy that did the weilding just kinda chuckled at me.
This shop "doesn't really do trannies" so they can't tell me any more than I already know.

It was going to happen eventually, so the new project starts. I'm going to have to find and install an MT, probably by myself.

Jesus, H... I go into NASIOC AKIC to ask for help, and look at what this arctic guy says to me..

...I have personally seen three svx's blow their tranny's for seemingly no reason. Although the price breakdown does seem a little steep, I don't know if you know this, but to work on that motor at all, it pretty much has to come out of the car. And your car doesn't have a timing belt, it has a timing chain...

hah..you totally ripped him a new ass.

Anyhow, yeah. Just a heads up, tom sells the kits with the fabrication stuff...crossmember, pedals, ect. it's all turning wrenches from there. The toiughest thing is going to be getting the exhaust down (Unless it's been done recently) and actually manuvering the tranny out (You might want a few guys around to help)

Im sure if you decided to tackle a TRANSMISSION yourself, you certianly wont be afraid to do other repairs as well. I picked up a 180$ tool kit a while ago, and that has saved me quite literally thousands on repairs.
