4 wheel steering SVX on ebay?

I sent the seller a messagelast night asking if that was indeed true or if he somehow got confused with AWD. He sent me a message back saying that the car was indeed a 4 wheel steering version. I thought that USDM versions did not have that option.

It doesn't. No USDM models got active 4WS. They got I think what we call passive 4WS, but not what he means.

The USDM models do not have 4WS.

There has been some heated discussions about this in the past.

It is original 92 US model, and will only have the "passive" 4ws built into the rear suspension.

It looks a mess. I'm a magpie for SVXs and I'd walk away from that.

Hiya,

If it has 4ws like Phil's and mine it will have the warning light saying 4ws below the car picture & next to the Cat temp warning light on the top left of the dash unit.

As far as I know the US or any other country apart from Japan ever got an active 4ws system?

Darren

So that's what the light means. Catalyst Temperature. I thought it was something to do with the transmission or diff. Presumably then the sensors in the cats, behind the O2 sensors, are temperature sensors. That explains a lot. Thanks Darren.

Phil.

Hiya Phll,

Its the 1 with the 4 little lines going up from it, looks like a 2 handled frying pan lol (sorry cant think of what else it looks like lol) I presume its what you have on yours?

I think the 1 in the main row of lights on the left hand side that says steering is power steering fluid level not 4ws?

Darren.

Guys

I'll be getting the Japanese Owner's Manual from Graeme with my Version L. It has the slight disadvantage that it is in Japanese, being only sold in that market, , but I imagine we will find a nice SVX owner somewhere who could translate some key pages for us.

Joe

Hiya Joe,

I have a nice little man in Japan who has his uses , his written translation is better than he speaks so if you need anything sorting send me a scan and I will forward it on to him.

I can translate Japanese as well, though I'm a tad slow with kanji. Thankfully most automotive documentation uses hiragana and katakana and I'm really good with those. Would be very cool to see what the Japanese owner's manual looks like.

That must be me.

Translation for 4WS info from the JDM Owners Manual already on Jamsvx's site.

http://www.geocities.com/jamsvx/4ws.html

For any other info, just let me know the page number and I'll provide the translation.

Thanks guys for the offers.

I may not be back in the UK till July, but I can get Graham to post me the manual and do some scans.

On a quick glance through the book, Nomake Wan, it is very pretty and attractive is how I would describe it. I must admit in my ignorance of the language the script is meaningless to me, but it is visually beautiful and attractive.

We will digest with care and see what new things we can discover.

Hi Joe,

There is nothing to "discover", we have experts down this way and Paul knows it all.

Hi Paul,

How are things with you. Adding to the collection I see. I too now have an MX5. I became frustrated not having something open and fun. If you are up this way, give me a bell.

OK, I'll qualify. I'm speaking for myself, not you know it alls in Auckland.

There is always something to discover. Life would be a very boring journey otherwise.

[even something banal, like, Oh! that's the temperature light for the cat, I wondered what that was!!! ]

MX5 eh? Mid life crisis vehicle, I'm thinking.

Joe
