Help removing TC bolts.
Yeah, so I'm doing the 5spd swap.
I am reading through these write-ups on it and I'm looking at Tom Johnson's write up. I'm at step 5 where it says "pop off TC bolt cover" on the pass. side. Where is that? I can't seem to find it. I'll probably go out to the garage now and find it though. What does TC stand for? I probably know and it slipped my mind. Thanks in advance, Noah Last edited by subster; 07-21-2006 at 04:10 PM. |

TC = Torque Converter
After you remove the throttle body, the cover is easy to get to.

Top rear of the engine on passenger side. Black rubber with a "handle" to help with removing. About 3" by 2".

Thanks, I found it but have had the hardest time getting those bolts off.
I've used all of my tricks. PB blaster, patience, tapping them with a hammer gently, whispering sweet nothings to them... Then, I lost patience, said screw it and stripped one with a vice-grip. Crud. Any suggestions?? Can I take the tranny off with out removing those bolts? EDIT: PS: To Tom, Let me preface by thanking you for the write up and Huck too. BTW the crank pulley bolt is 22mm not 24 as suggested in your write up. Or at least mine is. Thanks Last edited by subster; 07-21-2006 at 03:58 PM. |
