I think my car has narcolepsy

After my alternator was replaced a little over a month ago and since my car has been stalling. At first it was while I was at a stop sign or something. Then it would do it while I was driving. After doing some searching on the forums I have done the following...

~cleaned battery terminals (they needed it too)
~cleaned MAF
~replaced air filter
~replaced fuel filter
~new spark plugs
~fuel injector cleaner

Could it be the MAF actually needs replacing? My brother thinks that maybe the fuel pump is about to go. I really need some help here. I'd hate to loose this car because of some stupid problem.

Also, somehow there is air getting into my power steering system causing the fluid to bubble out from under the cap. This is annoying because after a while the power steering fluid will leak onto the engine and cause smoke to appear from under the hood. Has anyone had similar issues? Please help!!

Thanks,
Rebecca

Too burnt out to think right now... but I would change (flush) the ATF in my power steering system now. There is a how to for it.

Rebecca, if it is the engine quitting while you are cruising, without warning, with no other signs, it very well could be the MAF.
Bring it to Cumberland and we can run the Subaru Select Moniter on it and try a different MAF.
The air in the PS is most likely the O-ring at the PS reservoir.

I asked the guy I bought my SVX from if he had any problems with the SVX while he owned it and he said that it had a stalling problem. They trouble-shot it to the Mass airflow sensor. He replaced it and his problem was then fixed.

oh yeah, that would be a better place to start
Maybe do both anyway if you are unsure of how old the fluid (ATF) is.

Standard treatment for narcolepsy would be amphetamines and/or Provigil, dunno what the dose would be for a 3,000+ lbs beast.

Just what our cars need, a good dose of speed/meth
