Carbon fiber repairs
Somebody backed up into me and dinged my carbon fiber hood.
 I didn't see it happen. It was probably a WalMart parking lot love tap. The damage is about an inch deep and six inches across the front lip of the hood. Does anyone know if something like this is repairable or will she have to go through life wearing a consealing bra?

If I'm not mistaken you can repair it the same way you do fibergalss. You will proably have to paint it though. Better IMHO.

Pics would help. I second the fiberglass repair. You'd want to pain the hood after. Or you can always use some resin to put the pieces back together. But like I said at first, this post NEEDS pics of the damage.

If you want to keep the appearance on the outside, your best bet is to reinforce it from the underside with fiberglass or CF strips first.
Then sand on the top side carefully down through the clear finish to the bottom of the crack. Be careful here as you don't want to damage the CF underneath. Then apply an automotive clearcoat in as many layers as needed to fill it back to the surrounding level. Without seeing the actual damage, that's about the best advice I can give that will allow you to keep the woven appearance. Good luck, and remember you can always paint it if things go badly, or cover it with a bra.
