Talk about drag racing......

Had the chance this past weekend to attend a Diesel Truck Dyno/Drag in TN.

If you've never been to one of these, you have to go. I just couldn't believe some of the times these trucks were putting out for their size and weight.

On the dyno, a 1994 12v Dodge dyno'd a 573 on #2 fuel. Torque 1108.

1997 7.3 PSD dyno'd 350.5 hp - torque 690.

We have a 2000 7.3 PSD dually and had a 4 position Dp Tuner installed while there. Everything else stock. He, my husband, dyno'd 301 hp and 619 torque. His best time on the 1/8th was 10.289 at 67.0

These trucks were amazing. THe money these guys put into these trucks is just amazing. Unfortunately, or fortunately, which ever, a budget for truck mods now exists in my household.

Also got to see a Duramax blow a turbo on the dyno before the NOS was even pumped in. Lots of black smoke followed by lots of white smoke.

Here's our 350 on the dyno

If ya ever have the chance........it's pretty awesome

Next year I'm gonna trailer YellowBird there and run her. I have a good chance against these heavyweights.

Nice stuff. I attended a truck drag racing day at Maryland International Raceway in '03 right after I purchased my former '00 SVT Lightning. They were diesels making 11 and 12 second 1/4 mile passes all day long. They even had a few modified tractor trailers - the fastest was the Tornado that made a low 12 second pass. It had quad turbos and was making over 1,200hp and 2,000ft-lbs of torque.

We're gonna change the air intake, pulleys, exhaust, injectors and turbo housing.

There was a guy there that was "gumby" bent on the high oil mod and swears by it......he did do a 7.58. Maybe it does make a big difference.

The best I think this size truck will ever do after the mods is mid - low 9's in the 1/8. And that'll be on a good day.

The 12v cummins were putting out the highest torque on the dyno.

It's just cool stuff.

That sounds about right with those mods. A friend of mine with an F250 diesel made a 9.1 pass in the 1/8th with an intake, exhaust and a chip upgrade (that increased peak boost substantially).

Some guys were stripping just about everything off their trucks to run. One guy unloaded three little kid's Barbie chairs from the back seat. I laughed my arse off!

Our hitch goes 100 lbs., the tool box and spare tire were left in place. Told Davey to drop the tailgate, but he never did.

We use our truck everyday so there's only so much within reason you can do to a daily driver and keep it a daily driver/work truck.

I told him if he wanted to do a racer he needs to get another truck. 250 with a regular cab.

He has his diesel, I have the SVX's....both are high cost toys.

Just think, with fenders that wide you could put on some really wide drag slicks. Or even 2 sets and a 3rd for the front. If you got to haul the front axles down the strip, you may as well use them.
