Question Radiators

I just got my daily notification for my search for "SVX radiator" and there's a new listing for SVX radiators. The seller seems reputable with almost 4800 feedback and 98.5% positive. The brand of the radiator is Silla (which I hadn't heard of before today) and it explicitly says it's for the '92-'97 SVX "3.3L, 6 Cylinder - Svx". The price was really good but not unbeleivable at $187.80.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this seller (replacementautoparts) or had ever used Silla radiators and what their thoughts on them were.

I think it was mentioned in a previous thread that they don't actually have a match.

Are you sure it was the same company? I just did forum searches for Silla and replacementautoparts and only came up with this thread for both.

look into a koyo copper + brass or aluminum for an RB20DET, RB25DET, or RB26DETT and fabricate 4 mounting brackets, i'd suggest. it'd probably be cheaper.

Ok just for curiosity's sake, can you give me an idea what cars those engines are in? I know the RB26DETT was in the Skyline and probably the 2.5L version as well if I had to guess. But I'm not a Nissan expert so some help would be easier than googling it, lol.

Skyline. The rb series was only put in Skylines.

nissan reference =

-Letter (usually 2) such as QR, KA, SR, RB, VG, etc. shows you the designation.
-number (2 numbers) such as 20, 24, 25, 26, 35, 30, etc. indicates engine displacement 20, is a 2.0, 24 is a 2.4, 30 is a 3.0, 35 is a 3.5
after letters=
D = dual overhead cam
E = electronically fuel injected
T = turbocharges + intercooled
TT = twin turbocharged and intercooled.

SR20DET (my engine) SR (so happens to be short for "street race") 20 (2 litre) Dual overhead cam, electronically fuel injected, Turbocharged and intercooled.

Just out of interest, are you sure this skyline radiator is compatible with the SVX?

I know you said that mounting brackets would have to be fabriacted, but is it the right size and shape to fit in place of the SVX radiator? Do you need to make brackets to mount the cooling fans too? Are the hose connections the right size and in the right places? Does it have a suitable transmission cooler in the bottom? Does it have an equivalent cooling capacity to our radiator?

I just want to get an idea of how much customisation would need to be done to make a skyline radiator work with an SVX.

cooling capacity is greater with a 2.6 engine that has to cool twin turbochargers in a car with a more advanced AWD system that weighs just as much.

I'm sure it's got the capacity, though i am NOT sure about it's fitment, though I'd assume it'd fit no problem in an SVX bay. check the dimensions on it before trying it, and some pull-thru tabs and clips would be all you needed for the cooling fans. hoses could be ran with flexible coolant hoses, and input/output, if they're slightly different, you could get adapters.

So basically, what you're saying about skyline radiators is that they might fit with a bit of customisation, or they might not fit at all. Either way it's not a straightforward swap. Pity.

what are the dimensions of a stock SVX radiator, and i'll figure out if it'll fit or not.

dimensions

Unless someone has dimensions handy I'll get some tonight. I happen to have a radiator out of my SVX right now so no biggie. I'll just get some close measurements with a tape measure and we'll see what we come up with.

Hmm. Wonder if either of them do fit. I got a PWR for my 96, not sure I would buy another. My 95 will likely go any day now 177 and 188 are a good bit cheeper than stock and PWR.

Dimensions

I've made some *approximate* measurements of the SVX radiator (the whole radiator, not just the core).

720mm long x 460mm high x 60mm deep.

The inlet and outlet pipes are 40mm diameter. If you are standing in front, facing the car then one hose is on top, 250mm from the left. The other is at the bottom, 90mm from the right. Obviously the positioning of these is not critical, but they need to be in roughly the right area.

The trans cooler pipes are at the bottom, 210mm from either side, 10mm diameter.

The overflow pipe is on top, 250mm from the right, 8mm diameter.

Have you got the measurements of the Nissan radiators? If the skyline one is not right, then what about the 300ZX? Are there any that would fit without too much customisation?
