COOL I dont remember was i driving or parked. Bad news My radiator cracked all the way across the top, I think from the water pump not working but i'm not sure the car smoked a little and squeeled when i started it not like a belt but like a bearing going out. Everything looked fine so I tried to make it home and got to GI Joes the car over heated and thats when the Radiator cracked. So now I am not going to be driving it for a while. I think I am going to sell it if i can fix it cuz its to much work for me. I wish everything was perfect on the car but it seems like its out to fall apart everytime I fix something, something else breaks.

It was parked outside of some house. I'm sorry to hear about the radiator, hopefully it can be fixed without being too costly. Good luck with all of that stuff.

What to do

Well I checked out the car, and the radiator, water pump and the timing belt need replaced. So I called around and the only radiator I can get is used for 150, water pump remanned 42 or new 150, and timing belt lowest price was 62 dollars at knechts everywhere else they wanted about 100 dollars. I hate putting all this work into it and then sell it. I have been wanting this car ever since I saw it and I already know the tranny was recently rebuilt I rebuilt the front diff, I replaced a bad coil, I added an extra oil cooler for the tranny. I am going to replace the water pump, radiator, and timing belt and i will probably repack the rear bearings with my dads help. I mean what else could go wrong. maybe I shouldnt sell. I cant even think about giving the keys to someone else I love this car even if it hurts me in the wallet. Oh and I remember where i was when you must have seen me, were you driving your SVX?

PS I just love it when the auto parts store guy says wow everything is expensive on that car.

I'm lucky that nothing has broken yet on my car (especially since i slid sideways into a tree today, with no damage at all except for a little plastic cap popping off). I was driving the svx that day i saw yours. Hopefully you can keep the svx longer and are not forced to sell it off too soon.

Into a tree!!! What were you doing or is that all the story your going to tell? Theres not even snow on the ground yet and you already have slid sidways in an All-wheel-drive car no less. I really dont want to sell the car but I keep having to put money into it and I still owe money on it and my work said today that they are going to start cutting back on hours. I dont know if that pertains to me because i am the only one doing the job that I do, but I dont know. So I might be forced to hand off this SVX until the time may be right but I dont wanna whaaahh

i was being pretty stupid... going too fast into a corner, started sliding, didn't have room to correct the slide or i would have gone across the highway. so i had to just brake and hope i stopped. I barely tapped the tree and there was a mound of dirt built up beside it so all it did is pop the panel right in front of the wheel out just a little bit in the back, and i was able to pop it right back in. Looking at the car you wouldn't be able to notice anything. I was pretty much being stupid and luckily it didn't do anything to the car.

Yes, this was definately a wake up call for me. Especially since it's going to start snowing and the roads being icy i should keep it safe. That moment scared the **** out of me, then i was so relieved when i got out and looked at the (lack of) damage.

Note to self: don't be a dumbass

So far

Well I am glad there is no damage you are super lucky!! I have pulled out my Radiator, and fans, took aff the belts moved the powersteering unit so its out of the way, removed the altenator, removed the left and right timing belt covers, removed the pulley on the cranckshaft, removed the center cover. When I took off my timing belt cover I found that one of the belt pulleys has a bad bearing seal and some balls are missing, but I took off the water pump and I am replacing the thermostat too since its right there and I got a new timing belt, but the Radiator that the auto place ordered looked like it was from an XT6 no where near the same as our SVX's rad's So now I am looking for a Rad again, but my dad thinks we could patch up the old rad. And i need a new or used good pulley. So thats where I'm at with all that.

sounds like quite a project. So does it look like you will be keeping it after you get it fixed up again?

I know me too Boohoo but I think its best for me I just hope the car goes to someone who will appreciate it. And you never know I might fix it and not be able to sell or I might not want to sell after its fixed.

Hasn't snowed here in Terrebonne. I just ordered an idler so it will probably be another week or so before I get that and Chike is going to send the radiator on monday if all goes according to plan. I have a makeshift garage. It is better then being outside. Its like an old barn thing that was out back when we moved in and my dad made it into a work area he put a floor in cuz it was just dirt and a bunch of crap lying around. Our garage door is a blue tarp but when the stove has wood it is at least warm enough to work on the car. I think the car will be running in two weeks for sure. I just dont feel like doing anything at least not until I get all the parts.

Hows your car doing in the snow? You have allwheeldrive right? I havent had a chance to drive the SVX in snow yet. My XT6 is awsome in the snow, but the only time I got to drive it in the snow I had studded tires and this year I dont have the money to buy them.
