Glad your dad was alright.
I was very impressed with the way my SVX handled the maneuver. I yanked the wheel and the SVX just said, "OK" without whine (wheel noise) or hesitation.

The passenger in my dad's car actually had a burn on the tip of his nose as well as he got some of the powder in his eye. They took him to the hospital and they also said he had a slight abrasion to his cornea.

Not bad really. Most people I know who have had their Air bags go off on them burn the insides of their arms. (Other Makes)

Another thing that sold me on the SVX was when my Grandpa took me into a parking lot in LA, 1st rain in months, was going 60kms and he said crank it left. The car turned as I held on. That is what scared me when my sisters RX7 spun so out of control. No AWD there. Rotarys in more than one way

I totalled up how much these parts (and a few extra parts for me) would cost from 1stsubaruparts.com and right now we're sitting around USD$5000. I'm sure there's stuff I missed though.

I'll let you know once I place the order with 1stsubaruparts.com as since we're not paying for it it may as well be new.

If there's anything they can't get I'll be sure to let both you and Mike know. Mike wants to keep his old car on the road

Wrong part number... you want 66038PA110MD - DO indicates beige color.

Yes I am aware of that. That's for a 97 SVX. We broke that piece installing a stereo.

Don't forget the airbag control module. It's under the radio. I just changed both airbags and the module today. I did not change the 2 front sensors as they were not damaged. Airbag light is no longer on. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip. Does the control module need to be replaced? It wasn't mentioned in the damage report but I was curious about this.

Yes I believe it does. When I received my airbags I was suprised to find this included. It was mentioned to me that there might be a place in Toronto where it can be reset. It is somewhat hidden under the radio by a piece of black vinyl. I have an interesting link in relation to this, but it's at home. I will post it tonight. Is your insurance co writing the vehicle off? Also, is the dash on the passenger side deformed at all where the air bag sits (the lip) toward the bottom, just curious. You will need a security torx bit if you don't have one allready. I am no expert but it may not be necessary to replace the front sensors if they are not damaged.

He is right once the AB detonates thats it, its has done its job. The sensors if both bags went off will have to replaced also. This is not a fun wiring job. I can tell you just from dismantling a SVX and having all the fenders off, that if you dont have to have your car down for a couple of days that if you dont think you need ABs ditch it and use the money for something else. BTW I'l give you a peek at my steering wheel. And yes it is a STi wheel.
