What do these buttons do?

There are two buttons next to eachother next to the mirror adjusters, one looks like a defroster and the other is a P. Neither one does anything when I push them. Is the defroster thing a butt warmer? I noticed I'm missing a seat warmer relay in my fuse box..

The left one is the heated sideview mirrors and the one on the right is parking lights.

Oh well, guess I'll go this winter with a cold tush.
If there's a button for parking lights, why does my light switch turn them on also?

I asked that same question a while back and I forgot why it's like that but I still think it's stupid.

I guess it could allow you to drive with both parking lights and headlights on.

The button will keep the parking lights on even with the key out of the ignition. I think they did that because some law require all cars to be able to keep parking lights without keys.

That's exactly what it does, just went out and tried it, thanks.

Yhupp! In europe some streets are so narrow that if you park on the side you have to turn on the parking lights! AND when I mean narrow I mean narrow (if you have ever been there you you what I mean)

Well... I sure notice it, every time I go into town. And not just street parking is difficult, but even parking garages can be almost impossible with the SVX. I now refuse to even attempt any parking garage before first doing a walk-through. Where possible, I locate large outside lots.

In Tübingen my walk-through saved me from getting stuck in a very narrow 180 degree turn underground where the wall was covered in black scrapes where other cars hadn't quite made it. I actually watched as one bigger Mercedes had to back out of the garage and get someone to open the barrier arm for him to completely exit the garage. He wasn't just trying to get out of paying, I had seen him drive in seconds before.

Aarrgghh... don't get me started about parking

Turning on your headlights also turns on your parking lights...so you're already driving around with them on at the same time. The extra parking light switch allows the lights to stay on without having keys in the ignition. We get calls from people (and repair shops) who are baffled that their lights won't turn off and they think the switch on the steering wheel is broken

My parking light switch got the Tim Allen treatment . It now works my Neons .
It was not easy. The switch had to be bypassed. First attempt left me with no parking light. The park light setting on the headlight switch is wired thru the parklight button on the dash. Some electrical tape wire crimps and good to go.

I think if I tried to use my l337 parking light switch it would crumble and fall apart.
Pretty sure it's never been used.
