OT - Impreza question
Huck, Beav, or any one else-
I have a front wheel drive Impreza that I am doing some work on. I want to replace the rear suspension pieces that will allow me to use the struts and disc brakes from the awd cars. My question is what to call this piece as I am trying to source it. I think I have heard it called the following: hub carrier, hub housing, axle housing, stub axle, knuckle, etc. I know what it is, just not what to call it. Just to make sure, we are talking about the piece that the bottom of the strut bolts to. Also, this part is the same for all AWD Imprezas/ Legacies/ Foresters, yes? Thanks a lot for any help

Subaru calls them either knuckles or housings, depends on the day and which way the wind is blowing, I guess.
I don't know what cars share the same parts but I'm sure your Subie dealer does. |

On the SVX Subaru calls it a Rear Housing see http://www.svxparts.com/diag/?model=...category=281-A

Thanks guys. I'll probably have a couple more questions for you as I do the swap.

Maybe it's based on what department you're talking to. I did the same thing Huck, I looked at SVXParts and then I looked at the service manual, and listed it as a knuckle. Go figure...
