Exclamation Gas prices!!!

That time of the year has begun for me... This week my weekly fill up hit $38.00 @ $2.57 a gallon for a Mobile in Mt. Vernon, NY(right off the border of the Bronx). Down the block the Shell wanted $2.63.

Who else is getting jacked and for how much, and where is the unholy act being done from???

Well, in Sarasota I pay $2.53, if I go to Bradenton (different county 10 miles away) it's $2.43. Go figure.

As for who is responsible is hard to say, but since I am on my soap box, here are some interesting facts. China has gone nuts buying cars and they built refineries. We have not built a new refinery in this country in 30 years. 30% of the refineries 30 years ago have been closed. We are at 97% capacity now...and Bush Jr. begged the saudis to send us more oil, which as the Saudi's pointed out, we cannot refine anyway. One oil company netted $4Billion dollar profits in this last quarter and has the nerve to ask the Federal Government to give them tax breaks to build refineries at $1 billion a pop. Who is kidding who? Junior slammed Kerry for wanting to raise the price of gas $.50 to help resolve the problem, well...the price has gone up more that $.50 a gallon and we have nothing to show for it but the profits for the oil companies, who just got MORE tax breaks for the Feds.

Paid $2.77 today in Roseville. That's for Shell 91 octane. Tonight, pulled into San Luis Obispo to be greeted by Chevron at $2.93, and saw $3.03 in King City as I drove by 80 miles back. California, ain't it wonderful. Ass-clowns in Sacramento and Washington. The Oil Companies are their freinds, not ours. Happy with your Tax cut?

50 Cents More

How would you feel if you were paying the additional .50 per gallon on top of the high price now? The .50 was not to do anything to solve the problem, but to go into general revenues as a tax increase while trying to discourage our usage. Paying $2.26 in small town New Mexico. Cheaper in Albuquerque.

Well you have to figure the gas companies cant be to dumb, and they will try to earn money any way possible. So i dought they wouldent build a refinery unless they think they wouldent earn money which means. We wont stay at this level of consumption for long, A becasue one we may stop driving wso much, or B there is not alot of easy to get oil left. Or they figure if they produce 10% more gas, gas prices may fall 30%.

Ive seen several stations with 91 and 93 octane. Now why is it that theres like a 10cent difference in price between them??? Would you get the same effect from the 93 as pouring a bottle of octane booster in the tank???

Octane Booster?

If you are tempted to use the octane booster don't buy the commercially high priced little bottles. Buy the cheap paint thinning type. I am not a real expert but believe that toulene (sp?) or xylene (sp) would work.
