torque specs
I'm replacing the drivers side front cv axle but don't have the torque specs when I go to button it up. Does anyone know the
ft-lb rating I need to torque the axle bolt, ball joint bolt, lug nuts ect. when I put it back together? |

Axle nut = 123 - 152
Ball Joint to Knuckle = 33 - 43 Ball Joint to Ctl Arm = 79 - 101 Lug Nuts = 72-86 Specs are for lbs/foot. As always the first number is for used parts, the second for new parts. This allows for stretch of new fasteners. Many people think it's a range of tolerance. All front end parts that are pinned for safety are torqued to proper value and rotated further, if necessary, to align slot/hole for pin insertion. Never back off to align slot/hole. Beav |

Torque specs
That's a great bit of info to have on torque specs. I always thought the two numbers indicated a range. I use a torque wrench when mounting or changing my wheels. I always set the wrench halfway between the two numbers in listed the owner's manual. You're saying, on the used fasteners of my 92, I should be using the lower number or a little higher?

Actually anywhere in the 'range' is close enough, but the lower figure is what's recommended for used fasteners.
