Interesting SVX Review...
This seems to be some random site run by a college kid which encourages people to post reviews about the cars they drive. Reviews can be viewed here: Automotive Performance Central
I found two reviews of the SVX, but the owner of the '93 takes the cake... 1993 Subaru SVX Car Style: Touring Sports Coupe Drivetrain: 3.3 H6 Boxer with 4EAT transmission Mileage: 85,342 Approximate Cost: 6,000-9,000 Gas Mileage: 20 Modifications: K&N drop in, resinator removed, Infinity Perfect 10" with 550 watt rms amp Problems: Rotors warp vary easily under heavy breaking, coil packs tend to freeze and arch to engine block createing misfires(at least they are easy to replace) Acceleration: Mine has been tested at 6.9 with quarter at 15.1, which is very good for a 3,580 lb car. With four peopl in the car it still pushes you hard into the seats. Handling: Very, very good. I have had it at 130 and someone pulled into my lane and I swurved quickly and missed him without loosing tracktion. (Guess the weight helps for something) Braking: The braking is pretty good 60-0 in 134 feet. You have to be carefull about the rotors warping. Comfort: As comfortable as a luxury car. Which is what Subaru had in mind. It is very quite inside, even at 120+ mph., It has less drag than a Acura NSX, which costs three times more. Drawbacks: I think two problems would be an unattended transmision(no auxillery cooler) and warped rotors. If you have a 92 some wheel bearings are bound to fail. Even though they maade them form 92 to 97, parts are pretty expensive. If you take good car of it, it should run for a good 250,000 miles. Rating: Billy Thorton from Michigan says five out of five The review by the '92 owner was by a guy named Josh who lives in Alaska. I'm not sure what NikFu S's name is, but I was wondering if that could be him or someone he knows??? -Chike P.S. The reviews by some of the *ricers* are just priceless!

Nice review but SVXs do not warp rotors. Ever. I don't think a single SVX has EVER warped a rotor.
Shudder is caused by uneven pad deposits, as explained here: http://www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/...otors_myth.htm Enjoy! |

On the 92' I also liked how "the AWD and Tracton-Control really help"...........

The thing I hate most about that '92 review was when he talked about going 130 and someone pulling into his lane???!!! As if he owns the darn road!
I mean, if it was someone's wife and kids pulling out in a minivan to pass a tractor trailor, who would want some idiot driving along at 130mph on a public road to come almost crashing into the back of them! -Chike

Then again, it doesn't always shudder. Quote:
edit: According to that essay, I'm not breaking properly. I have all around cf pads from Dayle. Perhaps I just break harder? But this is what makes the front shudder and the rear squeal.

As for your carbon fiber pads, I have no idea. Did you ALWAYS have those pads? Or did you ahv factory pads on your rotors before? If so, it could have started the cementite..... - Jim |

I had OEM pads as far as I know, and switched the fronts last year, as they were pretty worn. This year I switched the rears.

I'm sure he knows his stuff, and I'm sure that is the complete article and not an excerpt used by a salesperson.
It is telling one aspect of the story and you are taking it as the only cause of uneven braking which people commonly refer to as warped rotors.
