MAKING a new SVX..whats your ideas?

Hello! there seems to be a general interest to see SUBARU come back with a type of SVX....but with some modifications to correct the mistakes of the past for SUBARU (priced to high, too heavy, window design, and whatever else people credit the demise of the SVX) so....here's a thread....to let you all explore your thoughts....i'd sure like to know what people think...and who knows...maybe someone will copy this and hand it to a subbie rep at the next show...and we might see them come out with something we like based on the forum....so let's make another one....what would you do? how would you want your next one to be...looks..drivetrain..name it....options.. what would you call it? just let your mind go...

it will need a six-foot wing, Altezza tail lights, factory glow washer nozzles, a Grey Poupon dispenser, 22" gold spinner wheels, faux fur interior, and a tailpipe you could fit a watermelon in.

This is merely my opinion, and I've expressed it many times: There will NEVER be another SVX. And, if Subaru tries to use the name on another car, it STILL won't be an SVX.

I posted my thoughts on a "new " SVX, a long, long time ago in my briefcase (locker) on the Yahoo SVX Club site. They are attached below.

I do not think that Subaru will ever make another real SVX though they may reuse the name.

you got to be kidding? -lol spinner tires?

ok let me clairfy- maybe a car for the mass's heres my idea take the drive train from the WRX and turbo the 2.5 and give it a 2 door with lil half doors like the RX-8 and the front end should be WRX/SVX style front end (cat type lights) and maybe a swooping flow to the rear deck...and priced around $22,000 for the base entry and call it and SVR or SRX....and have an limited model an SVR/SRX - Sti with the H-6 for around $27,000, with sued leather intr, prem sound, cd changer, ect...(loaded) and of course AWD standard on both..or make the 2wd option a REAR drive...limit color choise to three colors a year (changeing the colors every year) as to give it a specailness. any other takers on this idea? hey if we get enough interest.....WHO knows whats possible..

well glad to see some people are having a lil fun with this -lol-

Thumbs up

I like the SVR label idea.. Sorry that we are having fun on your thread but some of us can't think beyond the SVX. There have been so many rumors and stories about reviving the SVX that all eventually ended up as fairytales.. So I guess that's why most of us have the "Yeah Right" attitude.. I like your ideas though! I think if Subaru was to do something like the SVX they would tend to lean on a more sporty looking WRX... My 2.5 cents worth!.

You didn't like the rope light idea did you??

The WRX to me is too autocross looking (boxy)... It would be nice if Subaru could widen and stretch, and add a 2WD rear on the the WRX....

...and added rope lights!

Agreed. And (while I'm sure it's been said here many times before), I believe the single factor having the most to do with "the demise of the SVX" was that few wanted to drop such big money on a Subaru.

If in 1992 Subaru had followed the lead of Honda, Toyota and Nissan and launched an upscale brand, say, "Alcyone," with refined editions of the Legacy and Loyale platforms and the SVX as flagship, the story might have turned out differently.

Sadly, Subaru advertising and marketing has been a total disaster since way back in the "Inexpensive--and built to stay that way" days.

low-slung two-door WRX.....is now called...the SVX....simple.
Toyota created the Camry Solara off of the Camry sedan. Why not Subaru? Just a thought.
