So how many STI's out there anyway?

I've heard subaru is only going to build 3000 of those puppies. However I see one every day. Did they export them only to CA? There should only be about 18000 SVXes in US, and I've only seen 2 for the past 6 months, however i see an STI every day. Different one in different places.

At least 2 kids at my school are driving STi's, and I would say there are another 3 or 4 running around town that i see regularly. I'm wondering how many they're actually making, too. I know Kerven sold 4 of them so far, and now they cant move the ones they have on the lot anymore. Maybe the popularity has worn off??

Or maybe they're buying EVO 8s?

I read in one of the car mags that mitsu is putting out a stripper race model evo (rs?) and selling it for -less- than the evo. Same engine/hp. Gutted interior.
Neat!

subaru has been doing the very same thing with their wrx's for years.. it's a fantastic idea for people who want to use their car to get onto a track or rally course..

or for people who want a slightly lower monthy payment and don't care about power windows

i think subaru calls their "stripped" versions "Type RA" for "race-altered" and adds it as a tag... so a version VII WRX STi with the stripped-down package would be called:

Subaru Impreza WRX STi ver. VII Type RA

wonder if that fits on a registration....

As far as i can tell every 3rd student at CU has an STI or an S4, i literally see more S4s than civics and STIs are closing fast.

Before the STI I saw blue WRXs everywhere. They were as common as Eclipses. Now that the STI is out, all those WRXs seem to be turning into STI (funny how it sounds like one of those words that you don't add an S to to make it plural).

Ok, as I recall, i think we only have one STi in our college. There are 3 pimped out 2.5 RSes, 5 - 6 WRXes (most of them are blue) and 2 SVXes. The vast majority of our school drives civics, accords, several beemers and trucks.

Evos? Not that many. I don't even know if there are real once out there. BTW, here is another mystery question. Forester XT, a very fast small SUV, apparently as fast as any WRX out there, I've only seen one of them. Every time i see a forester i look for the XT model, and most of them are XSes. I guess people don't know that such car exists, or they are really not that fast? Why?

I was having a look at the Forester forum a couple of days ago. Apparently the tracking is fully adjustable and the understeer can be dialed out completely, giving an awesome machine.

If I recall correctly, Subaru originally planned to sell 5000 STis in the US last year. Since there are a few left on lots, either they didn't sell that many or decided to build more.

As I understand it, the STis aren't selling right now because the tires they come with from the factory are useless in the winter. I expect that they'll start rolling off the lots again in Spring.

Subaru of Gwinnett (where Porter works) has about 11 on the lot and they have sold atleast that many this year... From what I understand SOG is the south's biggest Subaru dealer...

the RE-92's that are standard on all other Subarus are useless in the winter, too.
the typical STi owner can afford the $30,000+ car, sink another $6000 in mods and stereo equipment, but somehow snow tires will break the bank?

the forester 2.5xt came out as an '04 model, while the 2.5x and 2.5xs has been out since '03. i think you will start to still many more, including the one i intend to purchase.
