1.what year had fastest svx?
92 is regarded as the fastest year.
2.any made with 5 speeds?
No, but they can be converted with a kit available from www.smallcar.com
3.are they hard or easy to maintain?
stick with the scheduled maintenance, and make sure you have a qualified place service the car. If you plan on working on the car yourself, pick up a set of service books.
4.is it cheap or exspensive for parts for maitnance?
Parts are generally more expensive than any other subaru by anywhere from 20-100%. Some parts are the same though.
5.how often does somethingg wrong with these car?
It totally depends on how well the car was maintained. If the car was abused and not maintained, then it will be troublesome. If it has been cared for well, it can provide years of driving pleasure!
6.what are the first things to go?
Transmission, wheel bearings, brake rotors
7.how easy are these things to mod?
They're not easy to "mod."
8.whats the price range like for modding these cars?
You know what they say... "If you have to ask, you probably cant afford it..."
9.whats the cheapest way to get into 13's?
Push it down a hill.
10.what kind of gas mileage do these things get?
I average about 22mpg.

Welcome to the network!

Mike

1.what year had fastest svx?

92 and 93 topped out at around 155, later models topped out at approximately 10 MPH less.

2.any made with 5 speeds?

No, though many are now swapping their own. Use the search function for more info

3.are they hard or easy to maintain?

Depends upon whether or not you're mechanically inclined. Basic maintenance (aside from plug changes), is as simple as any other car.

4.is it cheap or exspensive for parts for maitnance?

Can be Expensive. Seldom cheap

5.how often does somethingg wrong with these car?

Depends on how well the car was taken care of by the previoius owner.

6.what are the first things to go?

In the earlier models, transmission. In all models, wheel bearings. There's no real "pattern" after that.

7.how easy are these things to mod?

Not at all easy.

8.whats the price range like for modding these cars?

I'll defer to someone else who encourages that kind of thing. I don't.

9.whats the cheapest way to get into 13's?

Hook it up to an F-15

10.what kind of gas mileage do these things get?

City, expect anywhere from 19-25
Highway, anywhere from 25-30

i think thats about it, whtever info have please fil me in! thanks i advance!

If you are looking for a 10 second car, SVX is not it. It's heavy and sluggish from the line. It was never made to drag race. People have done it but it's not what the car was designed for.

As for modding the SVX, sky is the limit. That goes for modding any thing on wheels that move. But make sure you have time and money to back you up. It will not be easy and many SVXer are not really into modding the cars. The real reason behind it is that it is very hard to pull off a tastful mod on a stylish SVX.

Cheapest way to get into 13? Find a ICBM and slap it on the roof of the car. Make sure you change your wheel bearings and put a roll cage inside the car just in case.

As for the milage, on avarage, I get around mike. 23ish. I think it's pretty good. It varys though. I once got around 18 and I made 30 on highway too.

Well, this depends on whether you're talking top speed or acceleration. If you mean top speed, the '92's were supposed to be faster because they didn't have a rev limiter like the later models (but I've never heard of anyone going 'head to head' to 'test'). If you're talking acceleration, it depends on whether the '92 has had the 'ferrite bead crush mod' or not. The '92 might have to wait 'til '3' to get off the line.

(Haven't seen a 'crush mod' thread for a long while........ )

From my personal experience (92 LSL AWD, 94 L FWD, 94 LSi AWD), 92 is the quickest. I have pushed the 94L up to 130+ and it still had room to go more.

Of my 92, 2 -93s, and 2 - 94s - the 92 is the quickest and seems faster than the others. The 93s seem to be right behind.

All svx's have a rev limiter. I dont think you know what you're talking about. Perhaps you mean speed limiter?

Secondly, based on various magazine tests, the 92's are the fastest in both top speed and accelleration.

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

My faux paux... I said 'rev limiter', meant 'speed limiter'.

A 'non-crush-modified' '92 may still lose the edge over a later model.....

people have gotten the car into the 13s, and its not even THAT hard... but figure anywhere from 2K for a weak or up to 5k for a stronger manual transmission, about 500-600 for a nitrous system, and wide tires to grip as you do a 4000rpm clutch drop... problem being you can only do that so many times before you have to spend another 2-5k on a new transmisssion
