Cooling Problem Question

So I have been reading up on ATF and External Coolers and was wondering something. I came across a thread that said that the cooling problem was solved in 1994 and up trannies. Is this true? My 94 doesnt need a new/nother cooler? Thanks.

Cool er

94 and on got a different cooler for the ATF oil in the rad. This is supposed not to have a wire mesh, which in older models tended to clog and restrict oil flow, and consequently cooling.

I have not seen when in 94 the change was made, possibly somebody on here has a chassis number after which all cars got the mods. But I don't think so.

An extra cooler is cheap insurance compared to the cost of a rebuild.

If you use your car for towing, if you live in a hilly area, if you use your car all the time in stop-start traffic, any of these will cause the tranny to run hot. You might be safer to add a small cooler.

If you think you have the newer rad, then it ought to be safe enough to use real good oil. Most on here recommend Redline HiTemp ATF, a fully synthetic oil. Running with this will probably give you peace of mind, it's expensive, but worth it.
