Hello from a Probe owner

Hello to all.

I was alerted to this site through James (good work). I'd just like to congratulate you guys on the club. About two years ago, myself and three others started a club here in Australia for the Ford Probe. The Probe may have been sold in larger numbers here than the SVX (just over 2000 units) but I still know how hard it is to get things happening for such small numbers.

A friend of mine is lucky enough to own an SVX and I can say that they are a beautiful piece of machinery, not to mention the "oomph" that was built in to them. very nice indeed

Anyhow, I just thought I'd say g'dday and invite you to come over to http://www.probetalk.com/forums/ (Australian section), and to any meets we may have.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve .

Your comments are much appreciated and it is great to have someone outside the group saying nice things. I sincerely hope you get the same sort of responses in respect of your club and I wish you the very best in this regard.

I for one hope you will drop by again.

Ah, the Probe. Choice of discriminating proctologists everywhere.

Just kidding, Steve. I've always liked the Probe. In fact, I thought that's what the SVX was at first glance. Then, I saw the windows!

Thank you for stopping in. Come back as often as you like. Thanks for your kind words. We're proud of what we've created here and of the folks that hang around.

I'd love to come to a meet, but, the best I can do is stop by your site. Neither of my SVXes have the snorkel feature to allow me to cross the big pond.

Thumbs up Ford Probe

Hello Steve!

I like the Ford Probe and I nearly purchased one some time ago.
What are the prices for a probe in Australia?
In Austria they are about $ 7.000,-- for a good '95 one.
Next generation of the Probe is the Ford Cougar, right?
I think the design of the cougar is completly different compared to the probe.

greetings from austria (we only have got cows, no kangaroos

some people think austria is a short for australia!

Yeah, nice car but what the hell were Ford thinking? It's been more than once that I've pulled up at the lights only to made to feel like Cartman. Ah well, stuff happens.

Ford's official line on the Cougar is that it is not the 3rd generation Probe, merely filling that niche market. Who knows?

Austria? Is that just a scale version of Australia?

Anyhow, here's a couple of pics of my friend Rick's SVX

Cheers

Hi Steve

Welcome and thanks heaps for putting me in touch with Rick...hopefully we should see him on here soon.

I think the Probe's looked a lot more aggressive than the MX6 (which I understand shares a lot of commonality)

I saw that your meet up here in Sydney was at parramatta park (about 15 minutes from where I live) so next time you are up, we'll have to get some Probe's and SVX's together

Best wishes

James

Was back in Sydney for a while but not hot enough so now in Dubai! Has it been that long since I owned SVX-33H!

The Sydney guys have regular meets, and they really are a friendly group. They do a bit of cruising but mostly social events at a pub, restaurant, park or someone's house. I think they're planning another meet real soon.

As far as the MX6 goes, they share the same drive drivetrain and some other minor components. The MX6 for the US market was actually built on the same production line as the Probe.

Cheers
