LOST A GEAR! (videos)

So there I was, driving down a highway, when suddenly...a wild "This lane ends" sign appears...the SUV next to me wouldn't let me over, so I TRIED to gun it to pass him. Pwr mode kicks on and I see my revs go into the 5-6k range, then immediately drop down to the 3-4k range and I feel as if I lost power.

in manual mode, I start it in first, get to about 3-4k rpm throw it to second..and there is NO rev drop nor can I feel a gear change. I Immediately throw it into third and feel it change. It does this in just regular D too.

I've helped determine that he also lost 4th gear as well as 2nd. This one is a brake band failure.

Sounds like when my high clutch went out years ago. It would go to 60 and thats it and just rev anything past that.

This is not the same scenario. His transmission holds first gear, never shifting to second, then if he lets off the gas, it will go into 3rd gear and hold 3rd gear. There is no 2nd and 4th which are both controlled by the brake band.
