can anyone confirm this?
I was talking to a local alternator rebuilder and talked about upgrading the stock one. He said most subaru alternators are the same just the pully's are different. Can anyone verify this?

He's right/wrong. For Imp's and Leg's about the only difference is the shape of the 2 pin connector.
The SVX looks identical, but the tabs are in different positions.

Re: can anyone confirm this?
I mentioned this before, but I ran an SVX alternator on my '95 Legacy 2.2 wagon for a few weeks. The connectors were the same-- I'm not sure if the tabs were the same but they were certainly close. The pulley offset was different- I'm guessing maybe 1/4", not enough to throw the belt off.

Re: can anyone confirm this?
some Legacy alts are similar, single tab is 10mm more forward than SVX one requiring removal of material from mount to fit.
