Water/Condensation in trunk/tail lights
As stated in the title, my tail lights have the wonderful condensation mod, and now my trunk is gaining water where the spare tire goes. Ive been looking at Subaru Parts, and these are the part numbers Ive came up with. My question is, if I got all of these, would it fix all of the leaking problems? Both water in the trunk, and in the tail lights. That has to be the BIGGEST turn off to me, is having condensation in stuff... Here are the numbers
On this page, couldnt I just order two of (84940PA001) part 8, and two of (84940PA010) part 16 in the diagram... http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=842-A Then on this page, order two of (84940PA040) part 5 in the diagram http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=842-B The main trunk gasket isnt ripped or anything, so the only thing I can think of is that the water is comming in through the lights. Only thing that makes me mad is that if it is this... the gaskets cost $60

Be sure not to tighten the nuts too tight when you put them in. If you do, it will not fix the leak. If you do all of the seals, it should fix the problem. Good luck.

Re: Water/Condensation in trunk/tail lights
Check out this thread HERE
Could either be the sunroof drains coming loose at the inner panel of the trunk or the tail light gaskets. The two gaskets that usually contribute to the condensation/leaking problem are the 84940PA001 (part 8). If they are bad they let water get behind the gasket (where it meets the body) and down into the spare tire well. When you get new ones, but some grease around the back of the gasket (where it meets the body) before you install them. Do not tighten them up too much, just snug. Tightening them up too much causes the tail lights to damage the gasket by acting as a "cookie cutter" and putting a hole in the gasket. I have also applied a bead of RTV silicone between the gap where the black plastic part of the tail light assembly meets the body. This way, water flowing around the trunk lid channel just flows out over the tail light and not down into that gap. No water in my trunk and I have never had condensation issues. Which lights have condensation? If your center light panel in your trunk lid does not have condensation, just leave it alone; it is not a contributing factor to water in the trunk. This is the link to the sunroof drainage diagram. Hope some of this helps. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/atta...7&d=1180553532 Using the search button, you can also do an advanced search for "water in trunk" for other posts and information. .

Re: Water/Condensation in trunk/tail lights
Thanks for sharing the diagram svxcess. Am also tracking down a leak and was told of the sunroof drains, but hadn't been able to find exactly where they drained to. (The manual I downloaded from STIS is missing those few pages, of course)
The sunroof drains might not have anything to do with the leak - am still figuring the centre tail light cover, which I know is a source, but wanted to check the drains as well. Now I can, ta! Tania. *grin* hadn't found that thread in my search, either.... yank speak vs. aussie speak... shoulda thought of that.
