I need a specific name for a part...
I need to replace 2 gaskets that were rotten and causing a leak between the two pipes coming from the engine and the converter. Somehow it got disturbed when my tranny was installed. They called it doughnut gaskets, but what is it really called so I can order it. The bolts also need to be replaced. The one large gasket going to the muffler is fairly new since my exhaust system was just replaced last year. Are there part numbers for these? I appreciate any info. Thanks.

Viv,
There are several gaskets in the exhaust system... Have you tried looking at the diagram at www.subaruparts.com? http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=440-A Bill |

Just for a little Preventive Maintenance, any time the exhaust comes doen it is a good idea to all the gaskets. The two metal ones at the headers, the two dognuts at the inlet to the cat and the one behind the cat. If the gaskets are fairly new you can get by without replacement but if they got thousands of miles on them it is wise to replace before a hole is eaten thru the metal flanges.
The gaskets are a lot less money than the exhaust. |
