Brake Light

Ok. We just had our first snowfall of the season and I decided to take my SVX out for the first time in the snow since I owned it. Never owning an AWD I guess I got carried away. No damage to the car but I guess there was ice underneath that layer of snow and did a 360 on a side street. Luckily there were no parked cars right where I spun out but when I hit the brakes they appeared to go pretty far down before the ABS kicked in and now I have the "Brake Light" lit on the dash and won't go off. Any ideas why and how to get it to go off?

First thing to check is the brake reservoir cap. The rubber seal underneath should be concave, not convex.

Concave? Does that mean pushed in? Convex? Mean pushed out?

Yeah, If it's popped out it pushes the fluid out of the way and activates the low fluid switch.

Thanks Dave. I'll check it out. Will the light go out on its own?

If that's the problem, yeah.

If the light stays on, there may be another problem.

Thanks Tom. The pictures were great. By the way, I am down in West Virginia for training at the Federal Training Center at Harpers Ferry. Are you any where near here?

Every once in a while my Brake light used to trigger if the car sat in the cold. Loosening the cap and tightening it back up would clear the light.
