my mother b****ed at me to no end when she found out i had them removed. 'you're gonna burn the house down!!' she's alittle unreasonable sometimes... But, there is some wisdom to her madness. In lancaster ad a 'corn field maze', about a year ago, a family parked their minivan in a grass parking area, and the exhaust system set the field in fire destroying numerous cars. As my network profile says, I "wont be parking in tall grass any time soon'

Cornfield.....maze.....maize....

O.K., it's friday, I'm off this weekend (as compared to being off every day) and it's time for me to start drinking heavily... well, it's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

It's not a matter of where, it's a matter of which one first! *thinks of doing the Bardstown Crawl*

"You got your dead rabbit and your dead raccoon, them blood 'n' guts is gonna make you swoon."

Nope. Not that one. As in: "Do not seek the tray-sure." You've got to watch, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Funny movie.

Listening for the flexplate

At first my flexplate noise would not occur in neutral or park. I had to have my wife in the car with foot on the brake and slightly rev the car while I had a long handle screwdriver to my ear. I probed all the heat shields and exhaust system. I eventually became certain the noise was from the torque converter area. Hold the screwdriver to the casting near the starter motor!!
After driving the car for about a month, I got it in to the shop. The crack was around the crank mounting hole pattern, not near the OD of the plate. So the inspection cover would not reveal the crack. Mine got to be about 330 degrees around the pattern. Not much left and I would have been walking!!

Sounds like its from the rear of the engine... down low... I can hear it better under the car than in the engine bay.

Is it kinda' on the pasenger side of the engine and can you feel a knocking on the intake runner of the first cylinder?

No, it is from the rear of the engine, centrally located. Louder when under the car. The flex plate is between the engine and transmission, so the same place as the rear of the starter.
