I just got a new head unit

While the deck is for my SVX, I think this belongs here in "Not Exactly SVX".

I just picked up an Alpine CDA-9851, after giving up on my search for a reasonably priced CDA-9833. It has a whackload of features including mp3 playback, iPod hookup Sirius/XM radio capabilities, and 3 preouts.

The deal I got was just way too awesome to pass up. I haggled with the sales guy over a CDA-9847, then asked if I could have that new discounted price on the 9851 instead. Once that was agreed, I surprised him with a 20% off coupon. All this on free install week. So, I paid $235 canadian after taxes, installed.

I did my research on this year's Alpine line, and I know that the tilt function on the fold down face tends to stop working in a very short time. That's okay, as I'll have it in the top DIN anyhow, so I won't need the tilt.

I guess my point is that I am excited. Please share your thoughts on the 9851 and this year's Alpine line in general, or your experiences with aftermarket head units and installation.

i just got the 9851 and the 420i ipod hookup. It's really nice, i only wish that i could scroll through artists quicker on my ipod. Overall the head unit has been great for the week i have had it.

Visions. I forget the NIB retail price, but the refurb was priced at $300 + tax.
